Firstly thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make the event happen. Wrekin members’ organisation was as reliable as ever and made my role as easy as it can be. 130 competitors travelled to race on a day which was grey, damp and misty making the courses a little more challenging.

Secondly thanks to the National Trust Long Mynd Staff team for permission to use the area and Space Mobiles for the facilities.

Finally thank you to everyone for coming and making our efforts worthwhile

I enjoyed planning these courses and I hope you enjoyed running them. Kerstin Mitchell my controller provided a sound eye and level of support.

I kept most courses low down on the hill partly in case of bad weather but also to balance the level of technical challenge and distance. When planning on the Long Mynd it is important to try and guess what state the vegetation will be on the day of the event and allow for this in your planning process.

For the shortest and less technical courses the challenge was to get the right level of difficulty without having each control visible from the previous one.

Competitors on courses in the lower valley area, from Short Green upwards, had to read contours and use them to stay at the best height.

The longest courses from Green upward crossed the road and had route choices involving steep slopes, longer distance or more climbing. These course all finished with a rapid descent across the road for a final loop around the lower slopes with a change of technique.

Thanks to Kerstin Mitchell(HOC) for controlling, Hassall and Lucking for excellent map printing and Mike Capper(WAOC) for assisting with control hanging.

Any thoughts gratefully received
