I like to think people would be unhappy if the courses aren’t long or steep enough. After all it is the Long O.

Taking into account the possibility of controls being pinched, massive valleys, bracken and avoiding the flushes it can be a real challenge finding interesting routes. But we thoroughly enjoyed the excuse to get out on the hill and do the research.
Control 176 was placed on the wrong crag because I did not find the lower one hidden in the bracken. 21/22 isn’t bad.

Who’s planning next year? Can I run?

Tim Kieniewicz

Great to see so many people at a real event again! Thanks to competitors for complying with the extra sanitation requirements and deciphering the lengthy Final Details. We recovered all souls off the hill, despite a few dehydration issues. Well done!

Special thanks to our excellent Wrekin helpers for getting the event running: Steve Parker, Adrian Pickles, Richard Rogers, Mike Callow, Noreen and Derek Turner, Di Jacks, John Broadhead, Charlie Leventon, Kristof Nowicki, Tony Callow, Andy Clough, Clive Richardson and Martin Gibbons.

We agreed last year to plan this event, with hopes of cutting carbon by running a Saturday event tied in with public transport or some green travel incentives. Then along came Covid…and instead we were cars aplenty and buying plastic…maybe next year….?
