Another report about the Christmas 5 day event held near Lithhow, New South Wales.
As you will see from the attached maps the third day of the event at Baal Bone Junction provided a significantly difficult challenge in areas of rock ‘pagodas’.
These are big sandstone lumps with crags on all sides on the tops of steep spurs. The slopes are so steep that running is difficult and is less important than survival.

Control features included many crags, the usual termite mounds and a ‘narrow passage’ (see control 5). This was a corridor between two crags, just one person wide. The control description symbol was one usually seen on urban maps.
Once the rocks were behind you, the remaining controls needed a technique transition to careful compass and contour work.

Due to family commitments this was the last event our correspondent could get to. WREKIN had a 3 day impact on results for the ‘Hard old men’ class but will remain an enigma in the final standings.
