Parking
At the Stanmore Country Park visitors car park. This car park is used by all users of the park (mainly dog walkers) so please park at the far end and as tightly as possible. There is some additional parking in a lay-by on the main estate road. In extremis, park on the main estate road but be aware heavy trucks use this road.
Wrekin Club Championships 2025
The Club Champs is a little bit different this year: there are 2 courses – a long and a short with a mass start for the Long course at 11:00 am. The Short Course mass start at 11:45 to enable the Juniors to be shadowed if required.
Both courses are quite short and there is no climb so it should make for some fast running. Winning time on long should be around 30-35 minutes.
There will be a prize giving and social the Shakespeare Inn on West Castle St, Bridgnorth, WV16 4AD.

Mass start
We will gather at the car park, and at 10:45 clear dibbers and hand out maps, then head to the start area for a mass Start at 11:00am. Gather for the short course mass start at 11:30 in the car park.
Finish is very adjacent to the Car Park.
Download at Richard Rogers’ car (blue-grey VW ID.3).
Courses
Long 4.9 km
Short 2.9 km
The area is almost completely flat.
Control codes and descriptions are printed on the map. There are no loose descriptions.
Important:
Both courses have one or more “butterfly” loops. Using butterfly loops allows us to get the most out of a very small area.
The loop means you run the course in the same sequence as normal.
For example: Start -1 -2-3-4-5 etc but the 5th control is return to number 1 then 6-7-8-9 and 10 is a return to control 1. So the common control in this example is will be marked on the map as 1 / 6 / 10. I hope that’s clear.
Just remember to run the course in standard number sequence bearing in mind you may return to a control previous visited and importantly punch (or dib) at the common control each time. Its easy to mis-punch particularly with a mass start so please take care!
Terrain and Map
The area is part of a former RAF training camp either side of a road which is an entry to a large industrial estate. On a Saturday this road is quiet but both courses cross it once. Visibility is very good but try not to step out in front of a truck.
The map is at 1:5000 to Sprint specifications with 2.5 metre contours
White is usually fast run sometimes with low bushy twigs. Green vertical lines represent “Slow run – good visibility” this is typically brambles of varying heights and are best avoided. I have tried to plan courses the worst of these areas but inevitably you will cross some. The denser areas of bramble are represented by closer green vertical stripes: take it from me, don’t go there!
There are variety of man made objects, often remnants old building bases now somewhat grown over. Seats and some sculptures are mapped.
Some indistinct paths are mapped to guide you through the worst of the undergrowth.

Rocky pit symbol (black “V”) is used for former Inspection pits take care.
Black circle is a small building base
Brown line is a path
Black dashed line is a small indistinct path.
Facilities
Sorry there are none, other than dense bushes. There is a McDonalds nearby at: Chartwell business park, Bridgnorth WV15 6AS
