Planner’s Comments
Firstly thanks to Julia for doing all the permissions and pre arrangements, who sadly then caught the flu and was unable to attend.
Well we couldn’t have picked a colder weekend to hold the champs?
When putting the flags out on Saturday, I had to use a hammer and screwdriver to make a hole in the ground, just to put the box posts in the ground.
It was recording -5 even at 2.30 in the afternoon.
Then when I arrived on Sunday morning to wake up all the controls, it actually felt colder with the wind chill factor.
My biggest worry was when I arrived and was told an above ground water reservoir tank had split and flooded the road and paths around the residential cabins, the route being on all courses. It was dangerous but fortunately we could bypass the road and run on the grass.
So a BIG THANK YOU to all members who came and helped and got very cold doing some of the duties, but at least everyone had a run to warm up, and with the benefit of heated toilets and shower facilities at the end.
With everyone’s help we had all the controls in and packed up by 2.30 ready to leave.
It was nice to also have the Manager/Lead Instructor for PGL come along and meet everyone, and even get a run, hopefully a future member?
Merry Christmas to you all and will see you NYD
Regards
Richard Lewis
