We present a West Midlands League event at Wrockwardine Wood and Cockshutt Piece in Telford.

Important note: all courses Short Green and above will use a high percentage of urban terrain (40-60%), on a new orienteering map. This does mean that WML age category of M/W16 and below will have to run light green or shorter to comply with Urban rules regarding road crossing etc.
Venue: Oakengates Leisure Centre and Telford Athletics Track
Directions: Access is from the B4373 Wrockwardine Wood Way, and signed from its junction with New Road. Postcode for satnav: TF2 7AB. From the M54 Junction 4, go north onto A4640, follow this for approx. 3 miles to Granville Roundabout (by Asda), turn onto B4373 and follow signs to Oakengates Leisure Centre on the right, turn right into New Road and into the car park at the rear of the leisure centre, then follow marshals’ direction.
Please note that the Leisure Centre is used by other sports and parking will be limited so please share transport if possible

Courses: White to Brown, with lengths and climb provisionally as shown in the table below (to be confirmed in the final details). Some courses will use 2 maps or maps printed on both sides. Controls: SI, with contactless (SIAC) punching enabled except for the start and finish which you must dib.
Start: will be a 15-minute walk from the car park. It’s a punching start within your selected start time window.
Finish: will be in the sports area field close to car parking and download. Please remember to download on finishing or retiring.
Download: in the Tennis Centre foyer – please observe the no muddy shoes rule.
Courses close: 2.30pm
Clothing: full body cover is mandatory as all courses are partially or completely in forest terrain.
Shoes: we recommend not to use metal spikes and suggest rubber studs as some parts within the forest will be slippery.
Safety: all courses Short Green and longer will cross unmanned roads at various points; if a suitable crossing is available please use it. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure they only cross the road when safe. At road crossings please look at the road and traffic until safely across.
Whistles: must be carried.
First Aid: run by suitably qualified Wrekin members and within the download area. Local A & E detail is available at this point. Emergency contact will be on the map.
Dogs: on leads and at owner’s risk.
Entries: Pre-entry via www.fabian4.co.uk as below to guarantee a map. Please see the note above regarding junior entries.
Closing date: 19 February 2023
Fees: Seniors £10 (plus £2 for non-BOF members); juniors £4 (plus £2 for non-BOF members)
EOD: will be very limited and subject to map availability.
Registration: 10:00-12:00 or until maps run out. Registration and Enquiries will be in the Tennis Centre foyer: no muddy shoes please!
