Wrekin Club Championships, Sunday 22 December 2024

Our annual club championships will take place this year at Severn Valley Country Park, near Bridgnorth. There will be a range of courses for all ages.

This is a closed event for club members only.

Our AGM will take place afterwards in the Volunteer Room. All members are welcome – it’s your club!

Venue: Severn Valley Country Park

Postcode: WV15 6NG

Travel: From Bridgnorth take the A442 towards Kidderminster. Follow the brown Country Park signsfrom the middle of Alveley, just after the Squirrel Pub.

Car parking: in the Country Park Visitor Centre car parks, this will be un-marshalled.

Registration: Please email wroxell@gmail.com with name, SI number, category (or course if not running competitively) and age class. See below for details of which course to run if you wish to be competitive in your age class.

Registration and download will be signed and either in the café or the Volunteer/Breakout Building.

Toilets: In the visitor centre from 9.30

Map: 1:7500 with 5m contours. The map has been significantly updated and the area has generally improved. Courses have been planned to avoid most of the really horrible brambles and thick vegetation but full arm and leg cover is advised.

Slow run is generally good visibility but there are patches where brambles have taken over best to go around.

Please do not cross fences: a nearby gate is always the best option.

Courses:  Straight-line distances and climb are as follows:
Junior: 1.1km, 70m
Short: 1.8km, 90m
Medium: 3.7km, 125m
Long: 4.8km, 150m

Short and Junior courses are on paths and some open parkland. Long and Medium courses cross to the Highley side of the park; the only viable route across the River Severn is by the bridge!

Age class competitions will be based on the following (corrected to add SuperVet classes!):
