Welcome to the Telford Twin, a weekend of detailed, high-quality urban orienteering on two challenging, contrasting areas.
Saturday’s race visits the new area of Malinslee, and is a scoring event for the West Midlands Urban League. Sunday’s race is over Woodside and counts for both the UK Urban League and the West Midlands Urban League. Both areas are made up of high-density housing with parking spaces, open areas, numerous passages and alleys. The different dates of design thinking are revealed in the layout which ranges from rectangular blocks to gently bending streets. There are numerous small of steps areas of grass with some occasional trees and other traffic free public areas.
Expect high speed, technical urban navigation challenges for all ages.
There will be courses to suit everyone. If you’re new to orienteering, please let us know so we can give you a bit of a briefing before you start.
An urban event at Regional level, this event makes use of some highly technical urban terrain not previously used for orienteering.
Venue: Malinslee, Telford
Parking: we recommend the Telford Centre’s Cinema and Restaurants Long Stay car park, accessible from Northfield Street or Southwater Way. This costs £5 for a day.

This race will form part of the West Midlands Urban League for 2026. If you want to be competitive in the WMUL you should enter by your age category; otherwise you may enter any course you wish. The following table shows the assignment of age groups for each course (note that this is not the same as for Sunday’s event).

SI cards (dibbers): if you are entering any of the classes on courses 1 or 2, you will need a dibber capable of recording more than 30 punches. If your dibber is one of these:
- series 5 (numbers 1 ~ 499,999),
- series 8 (seven-digit numbers starting with “2”)
please request a hire dibber: we have a small number of high-capacity dibbers (series 9, not SIAC) available for hire which we will allocate on a first come, first served basis.
Assembly: take the zebra crossing across Southwater Way from near the entrance to the Asda car park (approximately 100m west of the Southwater Way entrance to the Cinema and Restaurants car park) and follow the footpath to the south west.
Start and Finish: both start and finish are approximately 200m from the Assembly area along urban paths. No clothing drop.

Clothing: Appropriate for the weather conditions- shorts allowed
Dogs: permitted in the parking and assembly area, please leave no trace. Not sensible on courses.

Medical information
If you wish any medical information to be available to a practitioner in the event of an emergency, please fill in the British Orienteering medical information form, place it in a sealed envelope with your name on it, and deposit it at Enquiries. It will not be opened unless we have reason to believe you may have suffered a medical emergency and will be shredded after the event if you don’t collect it.

Please note: participants who are not members of British Orienteering are not covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered.

Results will be posted here as soon as possible after the event.
During the event, signal and technology permitting, live results will be published about every 10 minutes, beginning soon after the first finishers arrive.
